Youth Apprentice at Northeast Georgia Medical Center
|
During my senior year I decided to be in the Work Base Learning program where I was able to do an internship at the hospital. There, I was able to rotate to four different places. I first went to the pediatrics at the hospital where I was able to shadow nurses as they checked on patients. After that I went to a small physician office where I was in charge of calling patients and sending referrals. I was also able to shadow nurses. My third rotation was at Hospice, where I met great nurses and learned more about the program and the process patients go through before they die. My last rotation was at Regain, a therapy place where I was able to be with the pediatric PT's. I enjoyed this place the most since it involved watching kids and view their progress. Overall, with this program I was able to view the health care field and decide if thats truly what I want to do. I enjoyed having the experience of what its like to be in the medical field. I realized that helping and treating kids is what I want to do.
